Stars Trainings

Delaware Stars offers professional development opportunities for its programs through trainings dedicated to support staffs’ pursuit of continuous quality improvement.

The following Delaware Stars Trainings are currently being offered and are only available to providers participating in Delaware Stars.

To register, participants must have a profile in the registry.  Contact your TA with questions and registration information.

Please note, in order for participants to receive quality-assured hours for the training, they must register before the training and sign in at the training.

Descriptions, dates, times, locations, and registration information are below.

Environment Rating Scales (ERS) Trainings

The ERS are observational tools used to assess aspects of quality in early childhood settings. These 4-hour trainings will introduce participants to the individual scales, and participants will learn how to use these assessment tools for quality improvements. The individual trainings are specific to setting.

  • “Applying the Infant and Toddler Environment Rating Scale – ITERS-R” targets infant and toddler classrooms (0-29 months).
  • “Applying the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale – ECERS-R” targets early childhood classrooms (30-60 months).
  • “Applying the Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale – FCCERS-R” targets family or large family child care settings.
  • “Applying the School-Age Care Environment Rating Scale – SACERS-U” targets school-age classrooms.

Who Should Attend?

These trainings are open to staff working in a program enrolled in Delaware Stars and program administrators or staff working in the specific setting for each scale.

Creating a Plan for Action: Building on Quality (CPA:BOQ)
This series of two three-hour sessions focuses on how quality is measured and the tools and strategies used in Delaware Stars. Topic areas include reflecting on practice and using data from the ERS and Stars standards to guide improvement efforts. This training series also includes the 3-hour “Observation and Assessment” online training, for a total of 9 hours.

Who should attend?
Providers and administrators who are new to Delaware Stars.
